When more dogs arrive than we can get out in a timely manner, our longest residents become URGENT. Often these are larger breed dogs that we adore but have simply been at the shelter too long with little to no interest from rescues, adopters, or fosters.

Kobe did very well with house breaking and crate training during his trial and is ready to pack his bags. WHO CAN CHANGE KOBE’S LUCK? Some love, a place to run, another doggy friend to play with and dog, and savvy cats would be great for this youngster. This young, handsome boy needs your help now!

He is neutered, up to date on all of his shots, and ready to apply for a full time job as a canine friend to some lucky family. Lance was found as a stray at a neighbor's home. She asked for help, and we gladly brought him home to foster and work to find a good home for him. He has been to a few playgroups as well as an appearance at a local festival in our community. He did great with everyone he met. He loves having other dogs to play and run with. He tested very well with multiple male and female dogs at the shelter and received rave reviews from our Evaluation Team. He is the epitome of the "life is good" motto and meets each moment with enthusiasm, smiles, and tail wags. He is a young guy and still has a lot of puppy qualities about him. He loves a good treat and would be an easy boy to train. He is working on his leash skills and on jumping into the car. Once in, he rides very well out of a crate. He was very afraid when we first got him and is becoming more comfortable and confident with new experiences. He is a smart, affectionate, and happy boy who hopes that the right family will finally notice his amazing smile and his boyish charm.

2/17/26 Intake: terrier/shepherd mix, 40.2 lbs, 1 yr old, female, HW-, stray. Lily was brought in as a stray by a community member from Pine Ridge/Hartsville after being rescued from a neglectful situation. She is heartworm negative.
Foster Update Apr 14, 2026: Meet my foster dog, Lily! I saw her living in a neglectful situation and brought her home with me. I'm 82 years old and a big animal lover. I really love Lily, but she deserves a family that can include her in more fun activities than I can. Please let me introduce her to you. Lily is a dream! She has the typical energy of a 1 year old but also is happy to cuddle up on the couch with you. She is a smart girl who learns quickly and is eager to please her people. She gets along very well with the other dogs in my home. She finds cats too fun and will chase. She is crate trained and housebroken. She does good on leash. She rides well in the car. If she sees a treat, she heads to her kennel. That's her all things good place. She loves drinking water. I think that is because she was deprived of fresh water and food before I got her. She saw my other dogs getting brushed and now she absolutely loves being brushed too, though her coat really doesn't need it. She loves to play then also loves to lounge and nap. She likes for me to sit and hold her. She is very sweet. Lily is 1 year young, heartworm negative, and around 40lbs. Please help me find her a sweet family to grow up with. I don't want to take her to stay in a shelter kennel, and I'm hoping her forever family will see this. She is available for adoption or rescue, and I can schedule a meet-n-greet with your kids and other dogs. I love her, but she's more than an 82 year old can foster for very long so please share.
Thank you,
Paulette & Lily

Lori - URGENT DUE TO TIME AT SHELTER - *ROCKSTAR*
11/3/25 Intake: terrier/lab mix, 55.8 lbs, 2 yrs old, female, HW+, stray. Lori was brought in as a stray by animal control from Moses Dr in Darlington. She came in with Carl. She is heartworm positive.
More about Lori Mar 30, 2026: LORI, a 2 year old, 58lb heart worm positive lab mix is looking for her forever home. Lori arrived in November with friend Carl, both found as strays and cared for by a Good Samaritan. Lori is the sweetest dog, she loves to play with doggy friends, great in reading other dogs play styles. She’s affectionate, kissy, and loves to engage with her human friends. Lori did great with kids she met during a birthday party held at the shelter last week. She was gentle when accepting peanut butter from them. She walks well on a leash and was a good girl while in a temporary cold weather foster home this winter. She’s such a happy, fun girl. Ask for her please! Located in Hartsville, SC.
Radio Pet of the Week Apr 15, 2026: Lori is our beautiful Pet of the Week featured on Rock 94.7 WWBD, sponsored by our friends at Purrs McBarkin'! What a rockstar Lori is! She was raised in a home and that clearly shines through. She has great manners and a desire to please her people. She loves water, a nod to the lab in her. She's wonderful with other dogs. While we always enjoy seeing Lori playful with her zoomies, we were reminded today too of her much softer side as she gently took treats, politely sat without direction, and rolled over for lots of belly rubs. She is gentle with children and just as polite in her cuddles. At 2.5 years mature and around 58lbs, she's simply an awesome dog! We are so impressed with Lori and can't believe she has been at our shelter since November. She is heartworm positive and we can help with that so let's get this great gal a family!
