He's a 6 year old, 60 Ib, heart worm negative hound/pit bull mix who gets along well with other dogs. Neil is a lower energy guy who loves attention, snuggles, and being close to his person. Neil recently attended a Starbucks event where he met children and did well with everyone. He also rides nicely and calmly in the car, making him an easy companion for adventures or errands. More about Perry July 14, 2026: PERRY is a 1 year old, 51 lb, heart worm negative pit bull terrier mix arrived as a stray in late May. Shelter life is taking its toll on her, the stress is wearing on her, and she needs to get out of the shelter ASAP. She should be spending her days chasing toys, snuggling with her family, and sleeping on a comfy couch, not watching the world go by from behind kennel bars. Perry is dog friendly and has those unforgettable erect spotted ears. Perry turns heads wherever she goes, but it's her heart that will truly steal yours. During playgroups, Perry bursts out with joyful energy, eager to stretch her legs after being confined to a kennel. Once she gets those zoomies out, she settles beautifully and enjoyed playing with her dog friends Dana and Leo. She's social, affectionate, and happiest when she's surrounded by friends, both canine and human, and out of her kennel. Piglet - URGENT DUE TO TIME IN FOSTER

11/7/25 Intake: english bulldog/terrier mix, 55.2 lbs, 5.5 yrs old, female, HW+, stray. Piglet was brought in as a stray by animal control from Villa Porcine Ln in Lamar. She is heartworm positive.

Foster Update Jan 13, 2026: Hey from Piglet! Looking great in her foster home, she's ready for adoption! Piglet has been aged younger by the vet than we first thought when she initially arrived from Lamar in such poor condition in November 2025; aged at 5-6 years old now. To our surprise, she was also spayed prior to her arrival, so it would seem someone once loved her. While she can't tell us that part of her story, she's feeling renewed and ready to write a new chapter. Piglet lives up to her name—she snorts like a pig when she gets excited and happily eats anything you give her. She is incredibly lovable and seeks pets from anyone she meets. Piglet is not suited for homes with small children as she gets overly excited and may jump on them. She loves playing with dogs her size, but she does not do well with small breed dogs or cats, which she tends to see as toys. Her favorite things in the world are getting pets and cuddling. She is crate, potty, and leash trained.

Foster Update Apr 6, 2026: Pinky is the total package—sweet, well-mannered, and full of love. She’s completely house-trained and settles in beautifully indoors, making her an easy and stress-free companion. She’s also comfortable in her crate and handles downtime like a pro. This girl has a playful side too—fetch is one of her absolute favorite things, and she’ll happily chase a ball as long as you’re willing to throw it. Pinky gets along great with other dogs, so she’d do well in a home with a furry sibling or as a solo pup soaking up all the attention. Affectionate by nature, Pinky loves being close to her people. Paws Around the Pee Dee Event June 20, 2026: During her recent Paws Around the Pee Dee field trip, Renee proved what a wonderful companion she is. She loved going for a car ride, is good on a leash, happily accepts treats, and soaked up every bit of affection she could get. Volunteers described her as chill, sweet, and cuddly, and she simply enjoys being close to her people.

Foster Update Apr 22, 2026: Remember Ruby who we rescued about a month ago. She was very emaciated and scarred. Well today she’s thriving and her scars are healing. Sweet girl who loves everyone she meets (she does approach people she doesn’t know cautiously but warms up quickly). She is putting her emotional scars behind her. Rides in a car very politely. She loves our rescue hound dog Walker. Playful young girl who is ready to find her forever family. I will put a few of her photos in the comments to show how far she’s come. She is current on her vaccinations and has been spayed. She is HW+ but that is treatable.

Ruby aka Judy - July 2022 Intake

7/28/22 Intake: lab/plott hound mix, 56 lbs, 2 yrs old, female, HW-, owner surrender. Previously lived inside with a chihuahua. Reportedly good with kids and other dogs. No cats for her please.

Foster Update Feb 3, 2025: Ruby is an owner surrender who has been with me for a while now. She never stayed at the shelter and came home with me to foster at intake. She was an inside girl with her former family. She doesn't do well with cats, so we have had to keep her outside with us. She is a strong girl who doesn't always realize just how strong she is. I have had her at a few adoption events and she always did well. I would be careful with her around small children as she gets excited and might knock them over. She walks well on the leash and loves to go on walks. She rides well in the car out of the crate. She gets along with others but is more of a people dog rather than needing a canine buddy. She loves her toys and loves nothing more than to play fetch. She will bring it back to me but seems to enjoy showing me just how strong she is by not letting me have the toy. We remedy that by having two toys. She is a good girl, and I would love to find a better situation for her than what I can give her.

Foster Update July 31, 2026: This beautiful 1-year-old spayed husky mix was found running along Highway 15 in Hartsville. Her owners were located, but sadly, they did not want her back. Now she is ready for a fresh start with a family who will love and protect her. She weighs about 50 pounds, is vaccinated, and is heartworm negative. She is an incredibly sweet girl who has gotten along well with every dog she has met so far. She loves playing with toys and going for car rides. She has not yet been tested with cats or children. This loving girl would make a wonderful companion and is ready for adoption or rescue.

More about Voltage July 29, 2026: Voltage is a handsome 3-year-old, 54 lb Lab/Shepherd mix who's been waiting since May for someone to see the amazing dog hiding behind his shy exterior. Heartworm positive and currently stuck in a noisy shelter, Voltage desperately needs a foster, adopter, or rescue to give him the chance he deserves. While he's still building confidence with people, Voltage absolutely shines around other dogs. He happily makes friends with every dog he meets and loves spending time in playgroups.
